4Meter Large Led Steel Ball
1:Concept
The highly polished ∅4 meter diameter stainless steel sphere features 9,000 laser and hand cut perforations which represent the stars visible to the naked eye in the Southern Hemisphere which are laser cut according to their luminosity. In collaboration with ANU astrophysicist Dr. Daniel Bayliss these were mapped and cut as perforations into a reflective stainless steel ball.
Inside this largest steel ball sits another ∅2 meter mirror polished sphere. By looking through one of the stars one can see a microcosm of our night sky.The magic of the Led sphere is revealed once you look inside. Peering through the perforation of a single ‘star” the viewer is suddenly captivated by a field of cosmic vision. The highly polished inner sphere reflects tiny rays of light filtering through the outer ball. Bouncing off the polished inner surfaces, the effect, at different times of the day, reveals a beautiful and entirely different universe.
2: Prototype
After receive the sketch from the client. we make a ∅40 CM small sphere as a prototype to client inspect.
